Voice-Over

Whether you are looking for a clear, soothing voice for your talking books, a professional sound for your corporate videos, or a good storytelling voice for your documentaries, I can produce a voiceover sound that clearly conveys your message while attracting and holding the listener's attention. To hear my narration, commercials, and animation voice style, or to hear my other accents, along with some French, German, or Russian voice samples, click on my demos page. Or contact me to put a voice to the story.

My voiceover experience ranges from film (voice of a policewoman, voice of a hospital employee) to commercials (bank services) and from online webisodes (Rainbow Demons) to reading the news for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. To hear a range of my voiceover styles (Narration, Commercials, Animation, Accents, Languages) click on my demos links.

Translation

I translate Russian into English. The skill of translating a piece of writing from one language (the source language or SL) to another (target language or TL) means that the finished product should read as smoothly as the original text. This involves more than translating word for word, sentence by sentence. I take the time to make sure that your translated document is not only correct, concise, and complete, but that it also appropriately reflects English punctuation, collocations, and spelling. Your Russian text, when translated into English, will be accurate, and it will make sense to the reader.

My translation experience has ranged in content from commercial to scientific texts, and in length from one-page documents to multi-page manuals and websites. I have worked for a German import-expert firm, translating all technical and promotional material from German to English for distribution to the firm's photographic and medical departments; I also audio-typed correspondence in German to be sent to the company's equipment suppliers. My translation experience in Russian has included translating a business website, technical manuals, and various magazine articles into English.

Teaching

Would you like to have one-on-one lessons in person, or by Skype? One student, or two or more students? Would you like to work on your speaking and conversational skills in English, or would you rather focus on reading and writing? Perhaps you are working towards a specific exam, such as TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge First? Call or email me to discuss your teaching needs and schedule.

Since qualifying as an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher, I have taught English in England, Hong Kong, Germany, and Canada. My students have ranged in age from nine years old to students in their late sixties. I have taught students from many different countries including Germany, France, Italy, Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Mainland China, and Hong Kong. I have taught all levels, from complete beginner, through intermediate to advanced, and have also taught exam courses including TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test). I teach all four languages skills - reading, writing, speaking and listening - but I focus on the particular skill the student would like to develop most.

Editing

I offer copy-editing of English texts. My editing projects include fiction and non-fiction. The bulk of my experience has been in copy-editing for educational and legal publishing companies; I have also worked on company newsletters. Some of my editing assignments have been written by non-native speakers of English.
